Hi, my name is Caitlin and I am pictured here by the Christmas tree in Manger Square at the center of Bethlehem last year. I spent over 2 years living in this city, teaching high school students and learning about the complex political and religious history of the region.

 

During my time in Bethlehem, I met many wonderful people, and also witnessed many of the daily struggles that they face. I saw the difficulties of their economic situation, but also noticed their innovative spirit of perseverance and creativity. Additionally, I learned how much the local economy depends on connections to people around the world who are drawn to Bethlehem because of the beauty and history it holds.
